by Tilghman Island Kiln Works
We’re thrilled to introduce Oysterware—a handcrafted collection of porcelain oyster shells designed for serving, celebrating, and savoring the coastal culinary traditions we love.
Born on Tilghman Island, Maryland, at the heart of the Chesapeake Bay, Oysterware is more than just tableware—it’s a fusion of function, art, and sustainable fisheries. Each piece is shaped and glazed by hand in our studio, inspired by the natural beauty and texture of real oyster shells. The result? No two are alike. Every shell tells a story—of the Bay’s bounty, of craftsmanship, and of your own culinary creations.
A Functional Work of Art
Oysterware is ideal for both hot and cold dishes. Use them to bake or broil traditional favorites like Oysters Rockefeller or Oysters Casino, or chill and serve classics like Oysters on the Half Shell or Oysters Romanoff. The shells are grill, and broiler-safe up to 500°F.
Whether you’re hosting a dinner party, building a raw bar, or giving a gift to the seafood lover in your life, these pieces elevate the experience.
Rooted in Sustainability
Each shell in the Oysterware line reflects our deep admiration for the Chesapeake Bay’s ecology and traditions. Oysterware offers a reusable, eco-friendly alternative to natural shells. When you buy shucked oysters in a jar, most shucking houses are able to return the cleaned shells to the water, seeded with spat, to grow the next generation of oysters—restoring reefs and filtering the Bay.
Handmade with Heart
Oysterware is created in small batches with care and intention. From the shaping to the final glaze, every detail is considered. Each shell is not just a piece of serveware, but a one-of-a-kind piece of functional art, handcrafted right here on Tilghman Island.
We hope Oysterware brings as much joy to your table as it does to our studio. Explore the full collection and bring home a piece of the Chesapeake—crafted by hand, made to last, and meant to be shared.
Cheers, y’all!
